NICE TO MEET YOU

I'm Danica Vaz

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science from Western Sydney University (class of 2017), I went on to complete a Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Sydney (class of 2019). 

After completing these degrees I started my career working in private practice working in busy medical centres all across Sydney.

I worked with a diverse range of people, some:

  • wanted to lose weight
  • Had Type 2 Diabetes (newly diagnosed and those who had this condition for many years)
  • Had Prediabetes
  • Had high cholesterol levels 
  • Had PCOS (now called PMOS)
  • Suffered from IBS 

and so much more!

 

Over the last 5 years working as an Accredited Practising Dietitian, I have realised I have a passion for working with Prediabetes and Type 2 Diabetes clients. I love seeing the way simple diet and lifestyle changes can make a significant impact on their blood sugar levels and overall quality of life.

Hence why I decided to open my online clinic focusing on providing nutritional support for these clients.

I want to help you:

by understanding which foods affect blood sugar levels and which foods don't.

Minimise the Confusion around Carbs

Not all carbs are bad for you!! Some can actually help with managing blood sugar levels. 

Reduce the Overwhelm

and help you form simple dietary changes that are sustainable and easy to implement.

Why I Do It?

There is so much noise when it comes to diet and nutrition - sensationalised news articles, videos from unqualified influencers, family and friends who want the best for you but think diets likes Keto and Carnivore are the only way to go... it can all get so confusing and frustrating trying to figure out what you can and can't eat. 

 How do I know this? 

Because these are the stories I hear all the time from clients when they first see me after they are diagnosed with Prediabetes and Type 2 Diabetes. 

 They go from being able to eat whatever they want prior to their diagnosis, to suddenly feeling anxious about every bite they eat.

Their doctors tell them to "just cut carbs and lose weight" but now they have to worry about many aspects of their diet with thoughts like: 

  • "Do I have to give up my favourite cultural foods like rice and chapati?"
  • "Am I able to enjoy the same meals my family eats for dinner?"
  • "Do I have to go on a strict diet just to improve my blood sugar levels?"
  • "How am I going to manage social occasions like birthdays, meals out and holidays?"

That's exactly why my mission is to simplify nutrition and show you that you don't need to cut out all the foods you love - you just need easy, personalised strategies that will fit you and your life.
